IDHA Community Open Mic!

COMMUNITY OPEN MIC (1).png

World Building & Mental Health - An IDHA Community Open Mic

Hosted by IDHA members: Steven Licardi & Pauline Pisano

“Our images/feelings/thoughts have to be conflicted before we see the need for change. Imagination offers resolutions out of the conflict by dreaming alternative ways of image/feeling/thinking. For positive social change to happen we need to envision a different reality, dream new blueprints for it, formulate new strategies for coping in it. “

- Gloria Anzaldúa (From: This Bridge Called My Back)

Questions + Framing

Any time we ask ourselves: Who am I? What are my needs? What brings me joy? What is the world  that I wish to create? We are performing a revolutionary act. We are giving ourselves a profound gift whenever we choose to critically examine our mental health. These are all mental health questions, and also revolutionary questions.

  • How can the gifts of artists be used to  create the worlds we wish to see?

  • If mental health is a revolutionary act, how can we use our magic for our collective health?

  • Does love play a part in this? If so, how? Is mental health a loving practice?

  • Who is an artist? Who gets to be an artist?

  • How can we share + build our creative health toolkit with others?
